Last week, President Donald Trump suggested "getting rid" of the Federal Emergency Management Agency while touring Hurricane Helene-affected communities in North Carolina, where I am from. He then established a task team to determine the agency's future by signing an executive order.


FEMA has proven to be a catastrophe," Trump declared during a briefing. "I believe we're going to suggest that FEMA be abolished and that we pay the state directly, rather than giving them a percentage."
